Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
As a BACP member, I work within their Ethical Framework, which guides me to provide counselling in a safe, professional, and ethical manner. This means that I am committed to working with integrity, respecting confidentiality, promoting client autonomy, and placing your wellbeing at the heart of our work together.
To ensure that I provide the best possible support for my clients, I attend regular clinical supervision. Supervision is an essential part of ethical counselling practice, providing a dedicated space to reflect on my work, maintain professional standards, and ensure that clients receive safe and effective support.
I am also committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and regularly undertake further training to develop my knowledge, skills, and understanding. This enables me to continue growing as a practitioner and to provide informed, up-to-date support to the people I work with.
Experience
I have extensive experience working as a counsellor within an agency supporting individuals affected by trauma and addiction. My work was grounded in a trauma-informed approach, recognising the impact that past experiences can have on emotional wellbeing, relationships, coping strategies, and day-to-day life.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I was a qualified nurse and a member of the Royal College of Nursing for 15 years. My nursing career provided me with a wealth of transferable skills, including empathy, compassionate care, active listening, professional integrity, and supporting individuals through some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Throughout my professional career, I have supported people facing a wide range of issues, including:
- Anxiety and stress
- Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- Trauma
- Addiction and recovery
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Bereavement and loss
- Work-related stress and challenges
- Loss of meaning, direction, or purpose in life
- Illness and health-related concerns
- Sexual abuse
- Eating difficulties and body image concerns
I recognise that every person's story is unique. Whatever challenges you may be facing, I will offer a warm, accepting, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported to explore what matters most to you.
